Antiphospholipid syndrome
Antiphospholipid syndrome combines persistent antiphospholipid antibodies with thrombosis or obstetric complications. Its refractory obstetric form, failure despite standard treatment, is one of the department's lines of work.
What it is
Standard treatment of the obstetric form combines low-dose aspirin with low molecular weight heparin. Some patients experience further complications despite this treatment: these are the refractory forms.
His work on this subject
Work focuses on adding hydroxychloroquine in refractory forms. The HYDROSAPL trial (NCT04275778) was designed to address this question. It was withdrawn without enrolling any participant: status recorded on ClinicalTrials.gov on 8 September 2026, record updated on 6 April 2026. The question therefore remains open.
Where care is organised
Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology, Saint-Antoine Hospital (AP-HP), with the obstetrics and haemostasis teams.
What is not known
The benefit of hydroxychloroquine in obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome is not demonstrated by an adequately powered randomised trial. Available data are observational.
